Rollout status · reviewed Muse Video · availability and access

Five switches, and all of them have to be on.

“Is Muse Video available?” sounds like a yes-or-no question about a country. It is not. Access is decided by your account, your country, the surface you are using, your plan and how far the rollout has reached and any one of those can be the reason the video option is missing while everything else about Muse Video works exactly as described.

A request passing through five gates account, country, surface, plan and rollout and stopping at the one that is closed ONE REQUEST, FIVE CONDITIONS, NO PARTIAL CREDIT “Make me a ten-second clip” account open country open surface not here yet plan rollout What you see: no video option at all. Not an error. Not a fault. Not something a reinstall, a restart or a subscription will change the feature was never handed to this surface. The gate that stops you is the only one worth diagnosing. The other four being open tells you nothing at all. THE TWO MISREADINGS “Meta AI works, so video must work” different gates “I will pay and it will appear” plans lift limits, not locks Find the closed gate before you try to fix anything
Availability for a generative feature is a series, not a switch which is why the app being available settles nothing about video.
The five conditions

What has to be true before you can generate a clip

Two of these you control and three you do not, which is the practical reason the question feels so slippery. Work down the list and stop at the first one you cannot satisfy that is your answer.

An eligible Meta account

Signed in, in good standing, and old enough. Generative video sits behind age and policy conditions that chat does not carry, so a working sign-in is necessary and not sufficient. If signing in is the problem.

Yours to fix

A country where video is switched on

The gate that catches most people. Video is released country by country on a narrower list than Meta AI itself, and the account’s region matters more than where you happen to be sitting.

Meta’s call

A surface that has received it

The Mac app, the web version and Meta’s own apps are separate deliveries of the same feature. Desktop usually follows rather than leads, so video on your phone is not a promise of video in the Mac app.

Meta’s call

Headroom left on your plan

Video is the heaviest thing that meters, so a free-tier allowance that has run out looks a lot like a feature that has gone missing. Meta One raises the ceiling; what actually meters has the detail.

Yours to fix

Your turn in the rollout

Even inside an open country and a supported surface, features arrive in waves. Two colleagues on the same build in the same city can be on different sides of this one, and there is nothing to do but wait.

Meta’s call

Why no page should hand you a country list

A list of supported regions is the thing readers most want here and the thing least worth trusting from anyone but Meta. Rollouts move weekly, the same feature can be partly on in a country, and a stale list reads as confidently as a current one.

What we can do honestly is tell you how to check in under a minute, and what each possible answer means. That is the rest of this page.

Check it yourself

The one-minute test, in order

The product is the only authority on this. Stop as soon as you get an answer, and note which step gave it to you the step is the diagnosis.

  1. Open Meta AI and look for a video option

In the Mac app, start a new chat and check whether video generation is offered at all. Present means the gates are open and you have moved on to usage questions. Absent is an availability answer, not a fault. Where the option lives.

  2. Ask for a clip in plain words

Some surfaces expose video through the prompt rather than a button. Ask for a short clip of something harmless and read the refusal carefully “not available” and “you have reached your limit” are completely different findings.

  3. Try the same account in the browser

The web version is a different surface with its own rollout. If video appears there and not in the app, your gate is the surface and the app will catch up. Desktop versus web.

  4. Check your allowance before blaming the rollout

An exhausted free-tier quota is the most common false alarm on a feature that was working yesterday. If images still generate and video does not, suspect limits rather than availability. What meters.

  5. Update the app, then restart it properly

Server-side flags are usually picked up on a fresh launch, and an old build can be missing the interface for a feature your account already has. Updating cleanly.

  6. Read Meta’s own page last, not first

Documentation trails the rollout, so it can say a feature exists in your country before it reaches your account or stay silent about something you already have. Useful for confirming, poor for predicting.

If every step says the feature is present and it still will not produce anything, you are out of availability territory: take the fault checklist in Muse Video not working instead.

Missing versus broken

Two problems that look identical and share no fixes

An unavailable feature and a failing one both end with no clip. Everything after that diverges, and the wasted afternoons on this subject come from treating one as the other reinstalling for a fault that does not exist, or waiting patiently for a rollout that already arrived.

The tell is the interface, not the outcome. If the option is not there, nothing on your Mac is wrong. If the option is there and misbehaves, nothing about the rollout is relevant.

It is worth being precise about the middle case too. A quota message is neither: the feature is available, your access is intact, and you have simply spent this period’s allowance. That is a pricing question, and it resolves itself with time or with a plan.

One more distinction the naming invites people to miss: Muse and Muse Video are not the same product and do not share a rollout. Muse is the agent that reached the Mac on September 17, 2026, United States only at launch; Muse Video is a generative feature inside Meta AI. Muse availability is tracked on its own page for exactly that reason.

Two panels side by side: an interface with no video option, and an interface offering video but returning an error Not available chat images nothing here No option in the interface Gate closed: country, surface or rollout wave Fix: none. Wait. Not working chat images video Option present, result fails Error, stall, or nothing returned after a long wait Fix: troubleshooting Same empty outcome, opposite responses check the interface, not the result
If the option is missing, the checklist in Muse Video not working has nothing for you and vice versa.

Why the wait

Three reasons video arrives behind everything else

None of this is Meta being coy. Generative video is genuinely the hardest thing in the family to ship into a new country, and the reasons are worth knowing because they also tell you which countries tend to come last.

It is the most expensive thing on the menu

A clip costs orders of magnitude more compute than an answer, and the coherence problem means people generate several attempts for every one they keep. Opening a country means provisioning for that multiplied demand, not just flipping a flag.

What it means for you: capacity is the reason limits are tight even where the feature is fully live, and the reason a rollout can pause partway.

It carries the heaviest safety and provenance load

Synthetic video of people is the most consequential output any of these tools produce, so it comes with labelling, watermarking and disclosure obligations that text never triggers and those obligations differ by jurisdiction.

What it means for you: countries with firm synthetic-media rules are not being ignored; they are the ones where more has to be built before launch. What ships with a clip.

The legal ground is still moving

Likeness, training data and copyright are unsettled for video in a way they no longer quite are for text. Launching into an active dispute is expensive, so legal clarity is part of the ordering.

What it means for you: the rollout order follows regulatory readiness more than market size, which is why it will keep surprising you. What Meta says it uses.

The same three pressures shape competitors’ rollouts, which is why no video tool is available everywhere its chat product is see Muse Video vs Veo.

If it is not switched on

What is worth doing, and what is not

Short section, because the honest advice is short. There is no setting to find and no build to sideload.

Keep the app current and check in occasionally

Rollouts land without an announcement, and an old build can hide a feature your account already has. Updating is the only action with any real chance of changing the answer. How updates work.

Try the other surfaces once

Same account, different delivery. The browser, and Meta’s own apps, sometimes have video when the Mac app does not and if one of them works, you have your clip today. The trade-offs.

Do the job with stills instead

More often than anyone admits, a clip was not required. Muse Image is more widely available, cheaper against your limits and actually editable when a still will carry it is the question worth asking first.

Not worth it: VPNs, region switches, third-party installers

Gating follows the account as well as the connection, so a VPN usually changes nothing and misrepresenting your region puts the account at risk under Meta’s terms. There is also no standalone Muse Video installer, which makes anything claiming to be one something else entirely. Where the real software comes from.

FAQ

Muse Video availability questions

Is Muse Video available everywhere Meta AI is?

No, and that is the single most useful thing to know. Generative video is gated more tightly than chat, so having Meta AI working does not mean video generation is switched on for you. The current country and language position is Meta’s to state and changes without announcement.

Do I need to download anything separately for Muse Video?

No. Video generation lives inside the surfaces you already have the Meta AI Mac app, the web version and Meta’s apps. There is no separate Muse Video installer, so a missing option is a rollout or account question rather than an install question.

Why can I see Muse Video on my phone but not on my Mac?

Because availability is per surface as well as per country. Features generally arrive on Meta’s own apps first and on the desktop app later, so the same account can have video in one place and not another the surface gate.

Does paying for Meta One turn Muse Video on?

Not by itself. A subscription raises usage limits where the feature already exists; it does not unlock a feature that has not been released in your country or on your surface. Pay for headroom, not for access.

Is the option missing, or is it broken?

If there is no video option in the interface at all, that is availability. If the option is there but generation errors, stalls or returns nothing, that is a fault and belongs in troubleshooting instead. The full distinction.

Will a VPN give me access to Muse Video?

It is not a route we recommend. Regional gating is tied to the account as well as the connection, so the usual result is an unchanged interface, and misrepresenting your location risks the account under Meta’s terms.

Why does video roll out more slowly than text?

Three reasons that all point the same way: it is by far the most compute-hungry feature, it carries the heaviest provenance and safety obligations, and it lands squarely in the middle of unsettled rules about likeness and copyright. Each one in full.

How long until it reaches my country?

Unknowable, and anyone giving you a date is guessing. Meta has not published a rollout schedule for video, and the order countries arrive in follows regulatory and capacity considerations rather than market size alone.

Does Muse Video availability match Muse availability?

They are separate. Muse is the agent that arrived on the Mac on September 17, 2026 and launched in the United States only; Muse Video is a generative feature with its own rollout. Neither tells you about the other Muse availability.

Where should I check the current status?

In the product itself, then in Meta’s own documentation. Opening the app, looking for the video option and noting whether it appears is faster and more reliable than any third-party list, including this one the one-minute test.

Check the product, not a list

The app answers this faster than we can.

Open Meta AI, look for the video option, and read what happens when you ask for a clip. One minute of that beats any page claiming to know your country’s status today.

  • Five gates, all required
  • No separate download
  • Plans lift limits, not locks
  • Missing ≠ broken
