United States only · no published expansion date

Five gates, and country is only the first.

Muse launched in the United States and nowhere else. But “is it available?” turns out to be five separate questions stacked on top of one another, and people outside the US usually get stuck on the first without ever discovering that two of the others would have caught them anyway. Here is the whole stack, and why the workaround everyone tries does not work.

Five stacked eligibility gates with a request stopped at the first one, the country gate You arriving at the stack 01 · Country of rollout United States at launch Stops here 02 · Region on your Meta account not the network you connect from 03 · The Mac itself Apple silicon, current macOS 04 · Language support an agent has to read your apps, not just chat 05 · Per-area integrations mail, calendar and messaging each roll out separately Every gate has to pass. Clearing one tells you nothing about the rest.
Most people outside the US never get past gate one, so they never find out whether gates four and five would have held them up too.
If you only read one bit

The United States, and nowhere else yet

The short version

US at launch on both platforms, with no published expansion schedule

Muse arrived on the iPhone on September 8, 2026 and on the Mac nine days later, on September 17. Both were United States only. Meta has said it intends to expand and has not said where or when, which means any specific country or date you read elsewhere including confident ones is somebody’s guess rather than an announcement.

US: available Everywhere else: not yet No published schedule No waitlist to join

This is the agent we are talking about, not the assistant. Meta AI rolled out far more widely and is a separate availability question with a much happier answer for most readers.

How eligibility is actually decided

The five gates, in the order they stop you

Availability for an agent is not one switch. It is a stack, and the app only works when every layer says yes. The states shown here are what applies to a reader outside the United States on launch terms.

Country of rollout

Whether Meta has shipped Muse in your market at all. This is the one everybody knows about, and at launch it is the United States only. Nothing you do on your end changes it.

Blocks most readers

The region on your Meta account

Distinct from where you are sitting. Meta decides eligibility from the region attached to your account, which is why the network you connect through is beside the point and why an American account used abroad behaves differently from a local account used in America.

Account-level, not network

The Mac itself

Apple silicon and a current macOS, the same hardware line Meta AI for Mac draws. Worth checking even while the country gate is closed, so that you are not caught twice. Muse on Mac has the detail.

Language support

Easy to underestimate. A chat assistant needs to understand your prompt; an agent has to read the contents of your apps file names, message threads, form labels and act on them correctly. That is a higher bar, and it is one reason agent rollouts trail chat rollouts.

Narrower than chat

Per-area integrations

The last gate, and the one that surprises people who do get access. Muse being present does not mean every connection is: mail, calendar and messaging areas are enabled region by region, so the agent can arrive with some of its reach missing. What connects to what.

Arrives piecemeal

Gates three and four are worth taking seriously even if gate one has already stopped you, because they decide what happens on the day the rollout does reach you.

The workaround everyone tries

Why a VPN does not open the door

The instinct is reasonable. Plenty of regional blocks are enforced by looking at where your connection appears to come from, and for those, changing the apparent location changes the answer.

This is not one of those. Eligibility here is attached to your Meta account, not to the network you happen to be on. The account carries a region, and that region is what decides whether the feature appears. Tunnelling your traffic through another country leaves that field exactly as it was.

You are not hiding your location from a lock that checks your location. You are changing something the lock does not read.

There is a second reason to leave it alone, and it is the more important one. Misrepresenting where you are to a platform is the sort of thing that puts the account itself at risk, and a Meta account is not a low-stakes thing to gamble it may be carrying your messages, your photos, your business page and your subscription. Risking all of that for early access to a file-organising agent is a poor trade by any measure.

The same logic rules out the other shortcuts people reach for, below. Waiting is genuinely the only route, and in the meantime the assistant is available to most of the world and does a great deal.

A network route changing country while the account record it is checked against stays unchanged What the VPN changes your connection appears to be elsewhere Genuinely changed. Just not the thing being checked. What the check actually reads Account region unchanged Same field, before and after. So the answer is the same too. And attempting it puts the account at risk for nothing. Waiting is the only route that works
The route changes. The field the check reads does not.

Installers from anywhere but Meta

The worst idea on this page. An agent asks for reach into your files, mail and calendar, so a tampered build of it is not a nuisance it is a handover. No regional block is worth that.

Never, for any reason

A second account claiming another country

Against the terms you agreed to, and it tends to collide with the rest of your Meta life subscriptions, pages, two-factor recovery long before it gets you an agent.

Risks the account

Paying for a plan to unlock it

Meta One decides how much you can use, not what exists where you are. Subscribing does not summon a product that has not rolled out. How the limits work.

Does not do that
If you are outside the US

What you can use today instead

The agent is the restricted part. Almost everything else in this corner of Meta’s lineup rolled out widely, and the gap between them is narrower than the naming suggests.

ProductWhere it standsWhat you get
Meta AI for Mac Broad rollout The full desktop assistant: chat, drafting, window reading and system-wide dictation. It answers rather than acts, which is most of what people actually use.
Muse, the agent US only The part that carries out multi-step tasks inside your apps. This is what the page you are reading is about.
Muse Image and Muse Video Varies Generation capabilities with their own regional and plan limits, separate from the agent. Check each one’s page rather than assuming.
Meta One Global Launched worldwide on September 16, 2026. It governs usage limits, not regional availability a distinction worth holding on to.
How it has gone so far

The rollout to date

Four dates, and the pattern in them is more informative than any prediction: the assistant went wide, the agent went narrow, and the subscription went everywhere at once.

Sep 17, 2026

Muse reaches the Mac United States only

Nine days after the iPhone release. Meta says the agent’s work happens in a sandbox it calls the Muse Secure VM and that it asks before anything sensitive, which is the kind of claim a narrow first rollout exists to test. What it needs from your Mac.

Sep 16, 2026

Meta One launches globally

Every paid tier consolidated into one subscription, available worldwide from day one. A useful contrast: billing infrastructure travels easily, an agent that acts inside your accounts does not. The tiers.

Sep 8, 2026

Muse arrives on iPhone, also US only

The agent’s first appearance anywhere. The same regional boundary applied, and it did not move before the Mac release.

Meta AI for Mac, on a much wider footing

The assistant shipped to a broad set of markets from the start a 16 MB native app that reads a window and replies. That difference in reach is the whole story of this page. Where the assistant works.

We are not going to extrapolate an expansion date from four data points, and neither should anyone else. When Meta announces one, this page changes.

Knowing when it arrives

Four ways to tell, and two to ignore

Rollouts land quietly. There is no announcement addressed to you, so it helps to know which signals mean something.

  1. The app is the signal

When a rollout reaches your account, the feature simply appears. No registration, no code to enter, nothing to claim. Where the app comes from.

  2. Meta’s own announcement

Expansions are announced by Meta before they are noticed by anyone else. A country list from any other source is inference, however confidently written.

  3. Your Mac being ready in advance

Apple silicon and a current macOS. Sorting this now means the country gate is the only one left. Requirements.

  4. Integrations appearing one at a time

If the agent arrives but a connection is missing, that is gate five, not a fault. It fills in later. If something looks broken.

  5. Ignore: “early access” links

There is no waitlist to jump and no invite to be given. Anything offering one is after your credentials.

  6. Ignore: leaked country lists and dates

And ignore anyone selling access. Neither exists to sell.

That is four signals worth watching and two categories to discard the second of which covers both the leaked lists and the people selling them.

FAQ

Availability and eligibility questions

Which countries is Muse available in?

The United States at launch iPhone from September 8, 2026 and the Mac from September 17. Meta has said it is expanding but has not published a country list or a schedule, so treat any specific date you see elsewhere as a guess. The rollout so far.

Will a VPN let me use Muse?

No. The check is tied to your Meta account’s region rather than the network address you connect from, so changing your apparent location does not change your eligibility and misrepresenting your location can put the account at risk. Why it fails.

Is Meta AI for Mac available in my country if Muse is not?

Very likely. The assistant had a much broader rollout and is a separate app with separate availability. It does the chat, drafting and window-reading part; it just cannot act on your behalf.

Why is Muse restricted when Meta AI is not?

An agent takes actions inside your apps and accounts, which raises questions a chat assistant does not: consent, liability, and how local rules treat automated action taken on a person’s behalf. A narrow first rollout is the conventional way to handle that. The difference in full.

Can I install Muse from somewhere else if it is not available to me?

No, and this is the one place where trying is actively dangerous. An agent asks for wide access to your files, mail and calendar, so a tampered build is far worse than a tampered chat app. Only Meta’s own distribution.

Does my Mac meet the requirements even if my country does not?

Possibly, and it is worth checking now so nothing else blocks you later. Muse needs Apple silicon and a current macOS the same hardware gate as Meta AI for Mac.

Does moving to the US make me eligible?

Account region follows the details Meta holds rather than where you happen to be today, and it is not something to change casually it can affect billing, subscriptions and other Meta products. If you genuinely relocate, the account catches up through the normal route.

Is there a waitlist for Muse?

Meta has not published one. The reliable signal is the app itself: when a rollout reaches your account the feature appears, with nothing to register for. What to watch.

If Muse arrives, will every feature arrive with it?

Not necessarily. Integrations roll out per area and per region, so the agent can be present while a particular connection to mail, calendar or messaging is not yet enabled where you are. Which areas exist.

Does Meta One change my eligibility?

No. Meta One went global on September 16, 2026 and governs how much you can use, not whether a product exists in your region. Paying does not unlock something that has not rolled out. How the limits work.
